In this episode, I interview Richard Miller, a long-time expert on industrial safety and the author of many books on the impact of U.S. nuclear testing including Under the Cloud and The U.S. Atlas of Nuclear Fallout, 1951-1962. From 1951 to 1962, the U.S. government dropped 100 nuclear weapons on the state of Nevada, not far from Las Vegas in what is now called the Nevada Test Site. Checking Radiation Levels near “Uranium Lake” in Falls City, Texas
In this episode, I discuss my first “pit stop” as part of my one-year road trip around the United States to visit nuclear-weapons related sites. In my research on nuclear weapons and Texas, I spotted something odd on Google Maps satellite imagery. On my way to San Antonio, I made a quick stop at “Uranium Lake” near Falls City, Texas and check on background radiation levels in the area with a geiger counter.
